HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA – February 11th, 2024 – Hollister
Police officers made an arrest this morning in relation to a
shooting that occurred on the 100 block of Third St. in the early
morning hours of February 6th.
On February 06, 2024, at about 11:36 PM, Hollister Police officers
responded to the 100 block of Third Street regarding a report of
shots being fired. Upon arrival, Officers contacted a male juvenile
suffering from one gunshot wound. The gunshot victim was
treated on scene by Fire & AMR then transported to a nearby
trauma center. The injury does not appear to be life threatening.
In the wake of the shooting, officers used the City of Hollister’s
newly installed FLOCK Camera System to isolate the identity of
the suspect vehicle used in this case and ascertain that vehicle’s
license plate.
This morning, Officer Lenin Pimentel located that
vehicle on the 1400 block of Fourth St. and contacted the occupants.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, the weapon used in this shooting was located and siezed. Officer Pimentel arrested Rene Lopez (21 years old). Lopez admitted to having shot the subject several days earlier, and said that the shooting followed a verbal confrontation at the incident location.
Lopez was booked at the San Benito County Jail on charges including Attempted Homicide, and several gun charges. His bail is set at $570,000.
