WEATHER UPDATE

Mendham Boro DPW

Monday, February 12, 2024 | 01:33 pm

WEATHER ALERT

Heavy Snowfall Tomorrow AM... Despite a high accumulation forecast, precip will start out tonight as more rain than not....which itself is likely to become steady for a while (and will limit the helpfulness of pretreatments). As we go past Midnight, we'll see pockets of snow & sleet becoming a bit more noticeable. At first, we're just talking about a "white rain". But by 4 AM so a flip to mostly snow will occur as precipitation intensifies. That will result in a period when 1 or brief 2" per hour snowfall rates are likely, particularly 4 - 10 AM. This will particularly be the case in the hills where temps will be a degree or two cooler and help snow accumulate even more efficiently. Regardless, even in valleys, these snow rates will overcome the marginality of temperatures and a good portion of the snow will accumulate on all surfaces.
