Advisory

Coastal Flooding, Snow/Rain, & Strong Winds Tuesday AM

A strong winter storm will impact NJ late tonight, with the greatest weather impacts tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. The primary hazards for our area from this storm will be significant coastal flooding between 8:00AM and 12:00PM, gusts up to 50 mph, and the chance for significant snowfall depending on the track of the forecast. Read more below:

Coastal Flooding - Flooding on all streets surrounding Shark River will be significant Tuesday morning, primarily between 8:00AM and 12:00PM. This flooding will likely result in road closures on South Riverside, the East End Bridge, and South/West Concourse. ***Residents living within a block of South Riverside, South Concourse or West Concourse should park their vehicles on high ground tonight to avoid damage tomorrow morning. If the roads are flooded, do not attempt to drive through the flood waters.***
Snow - Currently, the snow forecasts in Neptune Township range from less than 1" of snowfall up to 6" of possible accumulation, so residents should take necessary precautions and revisit the forecast early tomorrow morning. Residents, especially in Ocean Grove, should keep in mind that the Snow Parking Ordinance goes into effect as soon as the roads become snow-covered. Northern NJ and NYC will be receiving at least 8-12" of heavy snow, so commuters should plan for a slow and hazardous ride to and from work.
Wind - Gusts up to 50 mph are expected which can lead to damage and power outages. Take necessary precautions and secure any loose outdoor items. Report power outages to JCP&L, report any hazards such as downed trees in roadways or fallen wires to 9-1-1.
