Heavy Wet Snow During Morning Commute... Ongoing rain will begin to mix with some sleet pellets and wet flakes over the next hour, transitioning to a heavy wet snow predawn-dawn. Despite marginal temps, pavements cover not long after the changeover under heavy wet snow that rapidly accumulates through the morning with peak snowfall rates of 1”/hr, potentially even higher nearing 2”/hr through mid-morning. Snow lightens up late morning before tapering shortly after midday. Winds turn gusty through this time and combined with heavy snow, can lead to instances of downed trees and power outages. Temperatures warm up in the afternoon to the upper 30s making post-storm cleanup more manageable. The breeze will help dry out some surfaces, though and wet or slushy areas that remain will refreeze as temps drop into the 20s tonight. Aside from a stray flurry overnight, drier conditions return through Wednesday as gusty winds persist.
