Please avoid any unnecessary travel this morning as heavy snow continues across the area
Tuesday Morning Update: Please avoid any unnecessary travel this morning as heavy snow continues across the area, with current temperatures falling to around 30 - 32. Snowfall rates will continue to be around 1"/hr, with some infrequent rates around 2"/hr possible. A few "lulls" in the heaviest activity will be possible before picking back up not long after. These heavier rates will bring the majority of our snowfall (and pavement risk) through the morning before activity begins to wind down around midday. Any lingering steady snow will then taper off from west to east, with a few glimpses of sun possible before sunset (perhaps aiding the cleanup process). Total snowfall accumulations of around 5.0–9.0" are expected, with the highest totals closer to the NJ border. Winds will be rather gusty later today, with some downed tree limbs and powerlines possible due to the heavy, wet nature of the snow. Finally, any slushy or untreated damp spots will freeze/turn slick tonight as temperatures fall into the 20s.
Byram Hills & Valhalla Schools are closed today.
