SNOW EMERGENCY DECLARED - 8 AM

As of 8:00 AM on 2/13/24, the Teaneck DPW has declared an "Official Plow and Snow Emergency." Ordinance Sec. 36-10.1 is in effect.

All vehicles parked on the roadways of Teaneck that are not in "Exempted Areas" are subject to removal and/or being issued a summons. Vehicles can utilize Municipal Parking Lots where time and meter restrictions are lifted during the snow emergency, and remain lifted for 24 hours after the snow emergency has been lifted.

Ordinance Section 36-10.1 - Snow Emergency
(a) It is the purpose and intent of this section, in the interests of public safety and the general welfare of the Township, to allow plowing and/or removal of snow from the streets of the Township, from curb to curb, if reasonably possible under the circumstances and if the necessary equipment and personnel are available.

(b) Parking of any vehicle on any portion of a public street is prohibited whenever snow is falling and the accumulation is such that it covers the public streets in the Township and plowing is required, except in those locations set forth as follows:
Alma Terrace. North side, Chestnut Street to Elm Avenue.
Amsterdam Avenue. Both sides, Teaneck Road to 150 feet west thereof.
Ayers Court. Both sides.
Beech Street. East side, from the northeasterly curbline of Fort Lee Road to a point 140 feet north thereof.
Bergen Avenue. Both sides, Maple Street to 100 feet south of Blauvelt Street.
Beverly Road. Both sides, Elm Avenue to River Road.
East Cedar Lane. South side, from Azalea Court to entrance of Overpeck County Golf Course.
Elm Avenue. Both sides, Alma Terrace to North Street.
Hillside Avenue. North side, starting from a point 55 feet east of the extended easterly curb line of Woodbine Street and running easterly therefrom for a distance of 50 feet.
Hill Street. West side.
Larch Avenue. East side, from Hillcrest Street to North Street.
Linden Avenue. Both sides, from Alma Terrace to North Street.
Linden Avenue. West side, from Kipp Street to North Street.
Lozier Place. Both sides.
Minell Place. North side, Teaneck Road to Richard Court.
Parkview Drive. East side.
Pembroke Street. West side, from 186 feet south of Northumberland Road to its end.
South Strand. East side, from a point approximately 40 feet north of the extended northerly curbline of Northumberland Road, extending 95 feet north therefrom.
State Street. Both sides, Teaneck Road to Terrace Circle.
Sterling Place. North side, from Red Road to Prince Street.
Terhune Street. Both sides, Chestnut Street to Linden Avenue.
Vandelinda Avenue. Both sides, from Palisade Avenue west to its end.
Vandelinda Avenue. North side, from Palisade Avenue to 322 feet east thereof.
Washington Place. North side, Teaneck Road to Crescent Avenue.

NOTE: All existing parking restrictions for the above locations remain in effect during the period of snow emergency.

(c) Said parking prohibition shall remain in effect after the snow has ceased and until the streets in the Township have been plowed sufficiently and to the extent that parking on them will not interfere with the normal flow of traffic and the snow removal process.

(d) As used in this section, the term "snow" shall mean any precipitation depositing any accumulation on the public streets of the Township requiring plowing, including without limitation, snow, sleet, hail or ice.

(e) Regulatory and warning signs in accordance with N.J.S.A. 39:4-198 shall be erected and maintained at all street entrances for motor vehicles to the Township. Signs for exempt streets shall be posted as required.

(f) Any unoccupied vehicle parked or standing in violation of this section shall be deemed a nuisance and a menace to the safe and proper regulation of traffic, and any police officer may issue a summons and provide for the removal of such vehicle. The owner of such vehicle shall pay the prevailing cost of the removal and storage which may result from such removal before regaining possession of such vehicle.

(g) Handicapped parking spaces shall be exempt from the provisions of this section.

(h) All hourly limits and meter fees in municipal parking lots in the Township shall be waived for a period commencing six hours before a snowfall is predicted until 24 hours after snow has ceased to fall.
