Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help with identifying the suspect pictured below, who was captured on surveillance video taking a victim’s cell phone on January 26, 2024.
The theft occurred at approximately 11:55 a.m. as the victim was walking along the 700 block of Broad Street. On surveillance video, the suspect approached the victim from behind, snatched her cell phone, and ran away, headed westbound on Bank Street.
The suspect, a Black male, is approximately 5’6” - 5’8” tall with a slim build and dark skin complexion. He was wearing a black face mask, a light blue hooded sweater, a navy blue coat, black pants, and tan sneakers.
