Advisory

Winter Weather Advisory until 06:00AM Thursday

...Accumulating Snow Tonight... .A quick-hitting band of snow moves through the region tonight and exits before sunrise on Thursday. Widespread snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are expected with two embedded corridors of higher snow totals where amounts could push 3 to 4 inches. The northern corridor is expected to run from roughly Mankato, MN northeast to near Wausau, WI while the second band develops along or just south of Interstate 90 in far southeast Minnesota and southwest Wisconsin. However, there is uncertainty in where these two bands exactly set up, which will impact forecast snow amounts. This snow could lead to slippery travel overnight and possibly for the Thursday morning commute on any untreated roads.

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches. The snow may come down at rates of over 1 inch per hour for short periods of time.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Minnesota and central, north central and west central Wisconsin.

* WHEN...From 9 PM this evening to 6 AM CST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Some locations with in the advisory may see less than 2 inches of snow, with the greatest confidence in these lower snowfall totals running from near Rochester, MN, up through Black River Falls, WI.

* AFFECTED AREAS: WABASHA ... DODGE ... OLMSTED ... TAYLOR ... CLARK ... BUFFALO ... TREMPEALEAU ... JACKSON
