Narrative:

Thousand Oaks, Calif. – On February 10, 2024, a DUI/ Driver’s License Checkpoint was held at Hampshire Road and Evenstar Avenue from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm and Westlake Boulevard and Cascade Avenue from 11:00 pm to 2:00 am. A total of 457 drivers were contacted. Eight drivers were cited for operating a vehicle with license violations and three other drivers were cited for miscellaneous vehicle code violations. Two drivers were arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes and areas of high traffic accident occurrences. The primary purpose of a DUI checkpoint is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads. Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
