Narrative:
 
On 2/12/24, the East County Investigations Unit concluded an investigation and arrested Juan Sebastian Prieto Tranamil, a resident of Van Nuys, for conspiracy to commit a crime and identity theft.
 
The investigation began in early January 2024, when a victim reported her purse stolen from a local restaurant. The victim’s personal identifying information was later used at Target in the City of Thousand by two suspects. Detectives were able to view video surveillance footage and collaborate with detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to identify the suspects.
 
During the investigation, detectives learned Prieto was involved in similar crimes in various other jurisdictions. Additionally, Prieto had two outstanding felony warrants from Orange County and Beverly Hills Police Department for larceny and stolen property.
 
On 2/12/24, Detectives located Prieto in the City of Van Nuys and arrested him for violation of Penal Codes 182(a)- Conspiracy to Commit a Crime and 530.5(a)- Identity Theft.
 
Detectives were unable to locate the second suspect, however a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
 
Prieto was booked at the East Valley Jail in Ventura County for the above listed charges and his outstanding arrest warrants.  His arraignment is set for 2/14/24. The total bail for all counts is $375,000.00.
