Police Seek Public’s Help Locating Missing Newark Man Diagnosed with Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help with locating Jose M. Torres, 28, of Newark who was reported missing on February 14, 2024.
 
Torres, a Hispanic male diagnosed with Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder, was last seen at approximately 12:25 p.m. leaving his residence in the 100 block of Fairmount Avenue. Torres, known to frequent Randy Food Market in the 200 block of South Orange Avenue, is 5’3” inches tall, weighs 180 pounds, and has brown eyes, black hair, and a light complexion. He was wearing dark blue jeans, black boots, and a pink hoodie.
 
Director Fragé urges anyone with information on Torres’ whereabouts to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
