**Murder Suspects Arrested**
At approximately 11:56 PM on Monday, January 29, 2024, patrol officers responded to a victim of a shooting in the 900 block of W. Holt Ave. in the City of Pomona. Upon arrival, officers and Los Angeles County Fire personnel discovered a victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators from the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene to assume the investigation. Investigators identified 29-year-old Armando Wardle and 28-year-old Mayan Ayala in connection to the murder of 35-year-old James Avila. Wardle and Ayala were arrested and booked at the Pomona City Jail. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has filed the following charges:
Wardle: 187(a) PC- murder and 29800(a)(1) PC- felon in possession of a firearm
Ayala: 187(a) PC- murder

On January 29, 2024 at approximately 11:56pm, Patrol Officers responded to a shots fired call in the 900 block of W. Holt Ave. Upon arrival, Officers located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. L.A. Co. Fire Personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.
Homicide Investigators from the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and began an extensive investigation. The motive for the crime is not yet known.
