At 9:42am today, 2/13/2024, Chevron notified the Richmond Fire Department of a CWS Level 1 Hazmat Incident due to flaring at the Richmond refinery. At this time, Chevron has confirmed flaring is no longer occurring, however intermittent flaring might still be possible until system upset has been resolved.

Based on Contra Costa Health's 3-tier hazmat severity system, CWS Level 1 notifications have no public health impacts and require no action from the community.
