Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé reports that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Eddie Price, 51, of East Orange, who is wanted for an auto burglary that occurred on Friday, January 19, 2024, and an assault on a law enforcement officer that occurred on Monday, January 29, 2024.
On January 19th, a victim reported that her vehicle was broken into while parked at the 200 block of Springfield Avenue at approximately 11:10 a.m. The front passenger side window was broken and her purse, containing $60.00 in cash, two credit cards, a debit card, and other personal property, was stolen. The victim’s debit card was later used at two stores before it was declined by a third vendor.
Detectives investigating this incident observed the suspect in this incident, Eddie Price, inside a stolen vehicle in the 300 block of 17th Avenue in Irvington on January 29th. Upon becoming aware of Police presence, Price fled the area in the vehicle, heading northbound on 21st Street. A pursuit ensued and continued onto the Garden State Parkway northbound before the suspect vehicle stopped in the far-left lane and reversed into the Newark Police vehicle. Price then exited the vehicle and fled on foot across the parkway and into East Orange. He is described as 5’9” tall and 180 pounds.
