Gibson County Sheriff's Deputies attend Crisis Intervention Training.
Several members of the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office have started the new year off with new training to improve their service to the community.
Deputies Jennifer Robb and Bart Wagner completed Crisis Intervention Training through Deaconess Hospital this month. SRO Special Deputy Riley Farmer also attended the training.
The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training is a 40-hour training program that provides law enforcement officials training in assisting individuals who suffer from mental illness. Law enforcement and first responders learned about legal issues, mental illness in adults and children, recovery aspects, active listening techniques, suicide, traumatic brain injuries, community resources and more.
These officers will better serve people in the community who meet with law enforcement and need immediate assistance from mental health professionals.
The Sheriff’s Office takes mental health emergencies seriously. We are committed to getting people the resources they need.
