Winter Weather Advisory in Effect 12 AM-10 AM on Saturday

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory and Hazardous Weather Outlook for our area, from 12 AM through 10 AM on Saturday. The current forecast anticipates 2-4 inches of snow, with potentially slippery road conditions.

  • The Westfield Police Department, Westfield Fire Department, and Department of Public Works will be monitoring the weather overnight. The DPW will begin plowing if three inches of snow accumulates on the roads. Since the snowfall is expected during the overnight hours, please remove your cars from the street tonight to prepare for possible plowing operations. Removing cars allows plowing crews to operate efficiently as they cover 380 municipal roadways in each pass through Town. Public Ordinance 2070 prohibits parking on any street in Westfield when three or more inches of snow have fallen until snowfall stops and the entire width of the road has been plowed. Under these circumstances, the shoveling or blowing of snow into a plowed street is also banned.
  • Downtown residents without driveways may park in Lot 4 behind Baron's. In addition, the following locations are subject to alternate side of the street parking after three inches of snow have fallen, and vehicles need to park on the side of the street with even house numbers (except for Ross Place).
    • 400 & 500 block of Downer Street
    • 400 block of First Street
    • Livingston Street
    • Cacciola Place
    • Cowperthwaite Place between Elm and Clark Streets
    • 300 & 400 block of Lenox Avenue
    • 200 block of St. Paul Street
    • Entire length of Ross Place (park on the side with odd numbers only)
  • Grand Sanitation expects to proceed with its pickup of Zone 5 curbside recycling on Saturday after any necessary plowing is complete.
  • Updates, including plowing alerts and public safety information, will be posted on the Town’s website (www.westfieldnj.gov) and social media channels, as well as through Nixle.
