Arrest made for fentanyl possession with intent to sell

ARREST MADE FOR FENTANYL POSESSION WITH INTENT TO SELL:

On Wednesday, February 14th at approximately 3:15PM, Officers from the Petaluma Police Department were dispatched to the Petaluma Village Premium Outlets for a suspected in-progress theft. Officers arrived on scene and contacted the suspect, Andrea Maldonado. A records check on Maldonado revealed a felony warrant out of San Mateo which prompted a search of Maldonado’s property. The search revealed 10.5 grams of suspected fentanyl, .9 grams of suspected methamphetamine, multiple small baggies, 2 scales, $97 in cash, and additional drug paraphernalia.
The felony warrant, coupled with the large quantities of suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia led to Maldonado’s arrest for the outstanding warrant, possession of controlled substance with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of methamphetamine.
According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, a mere two milligrams of fentanyl is a lethal dose. With 10.5 grams of suspected fentanyl found in Maldonado’s possession, 5,250 lives were potentially saved in this case alone.

The Petaluma Police Department is committed to reducing crime and improving the quality of life throughout the City of Petaluma, and one of the ways we do that is by remaining vigilant in protecting our community from fentanyl’s deadly consequences.
