PC 25850(A): CARRYING A LOADED FIREARM IN PUBLIC
PC 29800(A)(1): FELON IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM
LOCATION: El Mirage Road/ Pico Avenue, El Mirage
SUSPECT: Nibardo Gamboa, 68-years-old, resident of Pomona
Jon Poindexter, 43-years-old, resident of Apple Valley
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, February 15, 2024, at approximately 1:10pm, Deputy A. Barajas observed a white truck traveling in the opposite lanes of traffic on El Mirage Road. Deputy Barajas activated his lights and siren, and the driver pulled over into the El Mirage Market parking lot.
When Deputy Barajas contacted the driver, Nibardo Gamboa, he saw a shotgun on the passenger seat between the center console and the passenger, Jon Poindexter.
During a search of the vehicle, the shotgun was found to be loaded, and a second unserialized handgun was found under the driver's seat. Gamboa and Poindexter were both under the influence of methamphetamine, and Gamboa was in possession of a methamphetamine pipe.
Nibardo Gamboa was arrested for using a controlled substance while possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, and warrants. He is being held at the High Desert Detention Center in lieu of $155,000.00 bail. Jon Poindexter was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm, using a controlled substance while armed, and carrying a loaded firearm in public. He is being held in lieu of $130,000.00 bail.
