Arrest Made Following Home Invasion and Physical Altercation with Resident 
On February 17, 2024, just before 12:30 PM, officers responded to a report of a Home Invasion in the 300 block of Spruce Street. The incident involved a suspect who forcibly entered a home, threatened the occupant, and engaged in a physical altercation with the resident.
The resident was able to secure the door, forcing the suspect out, who then resorted to shattering a window before fleeing the scene. Responding officers conducted a thorough investigation, leading them to Somers Point, where with the assistance of Somers Point Police Department, the suspect, Joseph P. Aversa, 41, of Galloway, was apprehended without incident.
Aversa has been charged with 2nd Degree Robbery, 2nd Degree Burglary, and 4th Degree Criminal Mischief. He is currently being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
