Advisory

Snow removal from sidewalks and vehicles / Just a reminder

The Denville Police Department would like to remind all residents and businesses that the property owner is required to remove all snow and ice from public sidewalks that run alongside the roadway within 12 hours of daylight following the end of the winter storm. Failure to do so not only endangers any members of the public who may need to utilize the sidewalks, but may also result in the issuance of a summons (ordinance 500-6).

On behalf of the Department of Public Works, we would also like to remind everyone that depositing snow or ice from your driveway or sidewalks in the street is also prohibited and may result in the issuance of a summons (ordinance 500-8).

Lastly, please just ensure that all vehicles have snow removed from them prior to driving them to ensure everyones safety (motor vehicle statute 39:4-77).  We want to make sure everyone gets home safe.
