Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help identifying the below-pictured suspects in connection with a robbery that occurred on Thursday, February 1, 2024.
At approximately 9:03 p.m., Police responded to Carteret Street near Lincoln Avenue on a call of a robbery. Five suspects attacked a man walking in the area, knocking him unconscious and taking his wallet, containing cash, debit cards, and other personal property. The suspects were later captured on video surveillance camera using the victim’s debit card.
Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s help quickly identifying these suspects. Suspect 1 is described as a male, 5’8” tall with a thin build and light complexion, wearing all-black clothing. Suspect 2 is described as a female, 5’1” tall and heavyset, with a light complexion, wearing eyeglasses, a black hood with white writing on it, and gray pants. Suspect 3 is described as a male, 5’8” tall with a thin build and a light complexion, wearing a ski mask, a black vest, and Adidas sweatpants. Suspect 4 is described as a female, 5’1” tall with a light complexion and a thin build, wearing a black hood with white writing. Suspect 5 is described as a male wearing a ski mask, blue North Face vest, gray jeans, a black hood, and black and white sneakers.
Director Fragé urges anyone with information regarding the identity of either of these suspects to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
