Hollis Police Department recognizes Master Patrol Officer Michael Trapani as the 2023 Employee of the Year

It is with a great sense of pride that I announce that Master Patrol Officer Michael Trapani has been selected as the 2023 Hollis Police Department/Hollis Communications Center Employee of the Year. Mike was one of five employees, both sworn and non-sworn members, nominated for this award, all of whom contribute to the mission of the Police Department and the Hollis Communications Center on a daily basis.

Since becoming a member of the Hollis Police Department on December 18, 2019, Mike has established himself as a dedicated and hard-working policing professional. He is known and appreciated throughout the Department for his quirkiness and genuine interest in all sorts of police related topics. He volunteers for almost anything and everything, and he is quick to get involved with fundraising and volunteer activities. More recently, Mike was tasked with starting, from scratch, and through extensive research and development, a drone program for the Hollis Police Department. He committed himself to this project and his hard work resulted in acquiring a drone and support products, creating a suitable policy, and the beginnings of an official sUAS Unit here at Hollis PD. Several other officers in the Department are now involved in the program, which Mike can take almost 100% of the credit for. Mike’s enthusiasm and thoroughness showed in his research, self-education, and advocacy for obtaining and using a drone.

Throughout all of the foregoing, Mike did not let the time commitment and effort involved in this project stop his regular contributions to the Department. Mike continues to actively patrol while on duty and produce solid self-initiated activities and attention to all those duties and responsibilities incumbent upon a Patrol Officer. Most impressively, Mike continues to maintain his commitments to the military and his family when he is not here.

Mike should be filled with an immense sense of pride in knowing that all the members of the Hollis Police Department and Hollis Communications Center, hold him in such high regard. Mike’s ethical, compassionate, and dedicated service to the Town of Hollis, his colleagues, the United States Army, and most importantly, his family are evident, and this is why he is most deserving of this award; it gives me great pride to express this as I present Mike with this recognition.

In closing, there is no doubt that Mike will continue to inspire each of us with the high standards that he lives by and exemplifies both personally and professionally, and know that we are all grateful for his selfless service to the Hollis Police Department, the Town of Hollis, and the members of this wonderful community.

With Pride,
Joseph R. Hoebeke
Chief of Police
