Wilmington Police have arrested a woman in connection to a 2022 fatal motor vehicle collision.
On April 14, 2022, at approximately 3:01 p.m., Wilmington Police responded to the 2000 block of Baynard Boulevard, in reference to a motor vehicle collision involving three vehicles. Upon arrival, officers located the driver of one of the vehicles – 61-year-old Maurice Johnson – who was transported to the hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries on May 23, 2023. The case was assigned to the Wilmington Police Traffic Division – Collision Reconstruction Unit.
The case was presented to the New Castle County Grand Jury on February 12, 2024, and an indictment was returned for 53-year-old Maila Madric. On February 14, 2024, Madric was taken into custody without incident.
Madric has been charged with the following offenses in addition to traffic violations:
- Manslaughter
- Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Drug
She was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and was released on $17,500 unsecured bail.
