Wilmington Police have arrested a man on gun and drug charges following an investigation.
Beginning in January, members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division have been conducting an investigation into illegal drug sales in the 1300 block of West 4th Street. On February 16, at approximately 10:01 a.m., police executed a search warrant in that block and took 40-year-old Javier Acevedo into custody without incident. Police recovered a loaded .380 caliber handgun, a loaded 9mm handgun, 60.5 grams of cocaine, $3,681, and drug paraphernalia.
Acevedo has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Four Counts
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 3 Quantity
- Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity
- Receiving a Stolen Firearm
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $243,200 cash-only bail.
