Arrest Made in Attempt Homicide Investigation
On February 18, 2024, at 9:45 PM, a shooting occurred at the 99 Cent Store parking lot located at 1514 N. Main Street. A gunshot victim arrived at a local hospital and was interviewed by SAPD Officers. The initial investigation revealed the victim heard a gunshot while in the parking lot and realized the gunfire had struck his forearm. Fortunately, the victim's injuries were determined to be non-life threatening.
On February 19, 2024, at approximately 2 AM, a witness of the shooting contacted the Buena Park Police Department (BPPD) and provided information on the identity and location of the suspect. The suspect was identified as Johnell Marquise Jackson (38) of Fullerton.
BPPD Officers located and arrested Jackson at a motel in the 7400 block of Orangethorphe Ave. in Buena Park. SAPD Detectives assumed the investigation and served a search warrant at Jackson’s motel room where two firearms were recovered.
Jackson is on active Parole with the California Department of Corrections. He was interviewed by SAPD Homicide Detectives and booked at the Santa Ana Jail for PC 664(a)-187(a) - Attempt Homicide, various firearm-related charges, and a parole violation.
