INCIDENT: Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Vandalism

SUSPECT(S): Alejandra Sanchez-Garcia, Age 30, Resident of Santa Maria
VICTIM(S): San Bernardino County Deputy Sheriff

SUMMARY: On February 21, 2024, at approximately 5:12 P.M., Rancho Cucamonga deputies responded to the report of a woman inside of a business, throwing and destroying items from the store’s shelves. When the deputy attempted to contact the suspect inside the business, the suspect, later identified as Alejandra Sanchez-Garcia, brandished a pair of scissors and attacked the deputy. The deputy overpowered Sanchez-Garcia and removed the scissors from her hand. Additional Rancho Cucamonga deputies arrived on scene and assisted in taking Sanchez-Garcia into custody.
Sanchez-Garcia was transported by American Medical Response to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for treatment. After being medically cleared, she was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center on charges of PC245 (C)- Assault with a Deadly Weapon upon a Public Officer and PC 594 (B)(1)- Felony Vandalism. The deputy was seen at a local hospital and treated for minor injuries.
