On Saturday, April 27, 2024, the annual Turtle Crawl races will be held on Jekyll Island to kick off sea turtle nesting season in Georgia.
Turtle Crawl Races will begin at the Beach Village and run along bike paths crossing the island to end at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center from approximately 6:55 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with intermittent road closures for each race. Ocean Way in the Beach Village will be closed from 5:00 – 8:00 am. In the Historic District, the Jekyll Island Authority (JIA) Admin parking lot and part of the Georgia Sea Turtle Center parking lot will be closed from 5:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
The 5K and 10K races will take place via Ocean Way in the Beach Village, to the oceanfront bike path, Shell Road bike path, Pier Road, and Historic District bike paths to end at the JIA Admin parking lot adjacent to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center parking lot.
The 1K Fun Run will take place via Historic District bike paths starting on Pier Road by the Post Office.
Please be advised that there will be brief traffic delays and road congestion throughout the island, as the races occur. Please plan your travels ahead of time and use caution.
Parking Information:
Plan your race day travels accordingly to park and walk to the start line located in the Beach Village. All public parking is first-come, first-served.
5k & 10k Parking Lots:
- Great Dunes Beach Park (trolley pick up & drop off only*)
- Tortuga Jacks
- Jekyll Island Mini Golf
- Overflow lot next to Dairy Queen
- Beach Village
- Corsair Beach Park
Turtle Crawl parking is NOT allowed at the Jekyll Island Convention Center on race day.
After running the 5k or 10k race, enjoy Free Trolley Service between the Finish Line/Race Expo at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center & Great Dunes Beach Park from 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
1K Parking Lot:
Parking is located in the Historic District’s Infirmary Parking Lot at 101 Old Plantation Road and is a 2-minute walk to the 1k Fun Run Start Line located next to the Jekyll Island Post Office at 17 Pier Road.
