Man Threatening to Harm Family Members is Taken into Custody after Hours Long Negotiations

INCIDENT: PC 422: TERRORIST THREATS
LOCATION: 10000 Block of Merino Ave., Apple Valley
SUSPECT: Matthew Wolford, 41 years-old, resident of Apple Valley
SUMMARY: On Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 12:04 p.m., deputies from the Victor Valley Station received a 911 call stating Matthew Wolford was making threats towards family members. The caller said Wolford made threats to harm his elderly father who was currently in the residence with him.
Deputies arrived and Wolford barricaded himself inside the house with his father. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team responded to assist, and after approximately 2 ½ hours negotiators were able to convince Wolford to come out of the house.
Matthew Wolford was taken into custody without incident. Wolford’s father was located inside the residence uninjured.
