...WINTER STORM CONDITIONS AND HIGH WINDS ARE LIKELY MONDAY THROUGH TUESDAY... .A potent storm system with a strong jet stream is expected to move across New Mexico Monday through Tuesday. Heavy snow is expected to develop early Monday morning over the Tusas and San Juan Mountains with this storm system. High wind gusts are also expected which could cause blowing snow and lower visibility making for hazardous travel conditions in addition to snow packed roads. High winds with snow could also cause power outages and damage to trees.
* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations up to 17 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 50 to 60 mph.
* WHERE...Tusas Mountains Including Chama.
* WHEN...From late Sunday night through Tuesday evening.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Some roads may be closed. Significant travel delays are possible. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Strong winds could cause extensive damage to trees and power lines.
