Traffic stop nets carload of underage drinkers as well as one impaired driver. 
On February 25, 2024, at 1:17 a.m. Fort Branch Town Marshal Darrell Parker and Deputy Wyatt Hunt conducted a traffic stop on a White 2020 Ford F250 for speeding on US 41 near County Road 750 South. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Hunt detected the odor of alcohol coming from the driver 19 year old Steven Haase of Mount Carmel. At that point Deputy Hunt began a roadside DUI investigation. At the conclusion of his investigation Deputy Hunt placed Mr. Haase into custody and transported him to the Gibson County Jail where he was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated and Minor Consumption. Regan Scraper, Cole Broster, and Vivian Hess all under the age of 21 were given promise to appear summons for minor consumption during this incident.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
