Red Flag Warning until 08:00PM Tuesday

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM TODAY FOR THE NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS AND EASTERN PLAINS DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY... ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM TO 8 PM MST TUESDAY FOR THE EASTERN PLAINS DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY... .Critical fire weather conditions will continue across the northeastern highlands and eastern plains of New Mexico through early this evening. Gusts will range from 40 to 60 mph. While relative humidity will be generally between 15 and 20 percent, strong winds will be capable of carrying fire in dry grasses and fuels. Winds will be even stronger on Tuesday with more widespread gusts of 55 to 65 mph. Relative humidity will again be somewhat marginal in a 15 to 20 percent range, but fine fuels will remain dry and vulnerable. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag Warning...which is in effect from 9 AM to 8 PM MST Tuesday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* AREA AND TIMING...Northeast Plains (Zone 104) and East Central Plains (Zone 126) until 6 PM MST today and from 9 AM to 8 PM MST Tuesday.

* 20 FOOT WINDS...Sustained out of the west at 25 to 40 mph with occasional gusts up 35 to 60 mph today. Winds will strengthen more on Tuesday with sustained speeds out of the west at 35 to 45 mph and occasional gusts of 55 to 65 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values of 15 to 20 percent each day.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

* AFFECTED AREAS: NORTHEAST PLAINS ... EAST CENTRAL PLAINS
