Newark Police Department Crime Blotter Feb 19 - 25, 2024
The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2024:
8:02 AM Officer Medina responded to the intersection of Ruschin Drive and McLaughlin Avenue regarding a suspicious vehicle. A 29-year-old-male was arrested for narcotics and driving under the influence and transported to Santa Rita Jail.
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2024:
4:45 PM Officer Frentescu observed a vehicle travel over the speed limit in the area of Cedar Boulevard and Lake Boulevard. A 42-year-old male was arrested for driving with a suspended license and speeding. He was released on scene with a citation.
7:35 PM Officer Kapu investigated a vehicle burglary 5600 block of Mowry Avenue. Entry was gained by breaking a passenger window. The loss was described as the contents inside a suitcase.
8:25 PM Officer McCuin investigated two vehicle burglaries on the 3100 block of Newpark Mall Road. Both vehicles had passenger windows as the point of entry. Loss was reported as the contents inside a briefcase and a backpack.
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2024:
6:42 AM Detective Hunter conducted a traffic stop in the area of Mayhews Landing Road and Sugar Pine Court. A 48-year-old male from Newark was arrested for possession of child pornography and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
9:22 AM Officers responded to the 35700 block of Bettencourt Street regarding a disturbance. A 39-year-old male from Newark was arrested for an outstanding warrant and released on scene with a citation.
2:33 PM Officer Townsend responded to the 39100 block of Cedar Boulevard regarding a disturbance. A 48-year-old male from San Jose was arrested for vandalism and public intoxication and transported to Santa Rita Jail.
4:14 PM Officer Orozco was detailed to Cherry Street and Sea Turtle Avenue for a traffic collision. A 32-year-old male from Newark was arrested for driving under the influence and released on scene with a citation.
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2024:
1:56 AM Officer C. Torres contacted a 30-year-old male out of Newark at the 7200 block Thornton Avenue who was discovered with outstanding warrants. The male was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
7:10 AM Officer Kim was dispatched to the 37100 block of Sycamore Street regarding a disturbance. A 32-year-old female from Newark was arrested for assault and transported to Santa Rita Jail.
3:43 PM Officers responded to a disturbance at the intersection of Burning Tree Drive and Arrowhead Court. A 29-year-old male from Newark was arrested for threats and disobeying a court order. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
5:09 PM Officer Pacheco investigated a vehicle theft near Bonnie Street & Noel Avenue.
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2024:
9:32 AM Officer Dale investigated a vehicle burglary on the 5100 block of Ipswitch Court. Entry was gained by smashing a window, loss involved residential mail.
4:33 PM Officer Kim was alerted to a stolen vehicle in the area of Jarvis Avenue and Newark Boulevard. After initiating a traffic stop and recovering the vehicle, both a 44-year-old male from Pittsburg and a 32-year-old female from Newark were arrested for the possession of a stolen vehicle and narcotics. Both individuals were booked into Santa Rita Jail.
9:46 PM Officer Soto investigated a vehicle burglary on the 3100 block of Newpark Mall Road. Loss included the contents of a luggage bag.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2024:
4:07 AM Officer C. Torres conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with no license plates on Moores Avenue and Wintergreen Drive. A 22-year-old-male from Martinez was arrested for narcotics and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
10:53 PM CSO Vuong investigated a vehicle burglary on the 5600 block of Mowry Avenue. Entry was gained through a passenger window, the loss was the contents of a black personal bag.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2024:
12:16 AM Officer C. Torres responded to a hit and run call near Balentine Drive and Stevenson Boulevard. A 47-year-old male from Fremont was arrested for driving under the influence and transported to Santa Rita Jail.
12:41 AM Officer Slavazza conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed Cedar Boulevard and Cedar Court. A 21-year-old male from Newark was arrested for driving under the influence and transported to Santa Rita Jail.
2:52 PM Officer Williams was in the area of Cherry Street and Thornton Avenue and conducted a traffic stop. A 53-year-old male from Newark was cited and released on scene for driving with a suspended license and not utilizing a vehicle interlocking device.
