SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY REPORT
The Summit Police Department is advising the community about a concerning incident that was reported to the SPD 12 hours after it occurred.
Around 4AM on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, suspicious activity was observed at a residence on West Lane. Three individuals, wearing face masks and hoods, were seen walking around a home, peering into windows using a cell phone flashlight. One of the suspects was carrying a crowbar. When the homeowner's dog began barking and the exterior security lights were activated, the suspects fled to a waiting white BMW X5 that sped away from the scene.
The suspects were likely attempting to gain access to the home to steal key fobs for two high-end vehicles parked in the driveway.
We urge all residents to remain vigilant in securing their homes and property:
- Ensure key fobs, especially for high-end vehicles, are kept in a secure location in the home and out of plain sight.
- Lock all doors and windows.
- Engage alarm systems.
- Activate exterior lights and security cameras if available.
