Lake Effect Snow Warning until 07:00PM Thursday

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches will be common, with 7 to 11 inches in the heaviest band. Winds gusting over 30 mph may lead to near- blizzard conditons at times.

* WHERE...Onondaga, Madison and Southern Oneida counties.

* WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 7 PM EST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute, including in the Syracuse metro area.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Very strong winds Wednesday evening will begin to diminish somewhat as the lake effect snow bands become more organized. Still, there is a risk of near-blizzard conditions at times in the heaviest snow bands.

* AFFECTED AREAS: ONONDAGA ... MADISON ... SOUTHERN ONEIDA
