Wilmington Police arrest three men on gun and drug charges:
Wilmington Police have arrested three men on gun and drug charges.
On February 23, at approximately 10:00 p.m., members of the Safe Streets Task Force were in the 1900 block of Lancaster Avenue, when they observed a motor vehicle commit a traffic violation. Police conducted a vehicle stop at that location and made contact with the driver – 23-year-old Malek Waters, 19-year-old Yimier Sharpe, and 19-year-old Arkye Matthews. Following a brief investigation, police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun and 6.7 grams of marijuana. Waters, Sharpe, and Matthews were all taken into custody without incident.
Waters has been charged with the following offenses in addition to traffic violations:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Possession of Marijuana
Sharpe has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Possession of Marijuana
Matthews has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Three Counts
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Possession of Marijuana
