Tri-City Violent Crimes/Narcotics Task Force makes arrest

On Wednesday, 2/28/2024, Detectives with the Tri-City Violent Crimes/Narcotics Task Force were conducting surveillance in a known drug trafficking area. Detectives observed a vehicle leaving the area and conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop Detectives located Kevin Marquise Hamilton, 28 years of age of Rutherfordton. During the encounter it was learned that Hamilton had multiple outstanding felony warrants for his arrest. Hamilton was arrested on scene without incident, and subsequent investigation found Hamilton to be in possession of marijuana, fentanyl powder and fentanyl pills. Hamilton was transported to the Rutherford County Jail where he remained in custody pending a bond hearing with a judicial official. 

Charges: 
-Felony PWIMSD of SCH I (fentanyl pills)
-Felony PWIMSD of SCH II (fentanyl powder)
-Misdemeanor possession of SCH VI (marijuana)
-Possession of drug paraphernalia 

Warrants Served:
- Common Law Robbery
- Resist/Obstruct/Delay
- Misdemeanor larceny
- Injury to personal property 

The Tri-City Violent Crimes/Narcotics Task Force is a newly formed task force including investigators from Forest City Police Department, Spindale Police Department and Rutherford Police Department. The goal of this Task Force is to combat violent crime and narcotic law violations within the jurisdictional boundaries of each municipality.
