SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
ANNOUNCES THE ADDITION OF 4 DEPUTIES IN THE 5th SUPERVISORIAL DISTRICT

SAN BERNARDINO, CA – The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff Shannon Dicus, and County Supervisor Joe Baca Jr. proudly announce the addition of four deputies to fortify public safety within the 5th Supervisorial District, which encompasses the San Bernardino, Colton, and Rialto communities.

These additional deputy positions come as a collaborative effort between the Sheriff’s Department and the leadership of the Board of Supervisors. Recognizing the need to enhance law enforcement presence and community engagement, the deployment of these additional deputies signifies a proactive approach to ensuring the safety and well-being of residents and small businesses within the 5th Supervisorial District.

Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr., shared, “In addition to the deputies we’ve already placed in our unincorporated communities of Bloomington and Rosena Ranch, we’re further reinforcing our commitment to safety by adding more deputies in our district.” Supervisor Baca, Jr, further emphasized “Adding four deputies in our unicorparated areas means we are really stepping up for our underserved neighborhoods, especially where it’s needed most. It’s about making sure everyone, no matter where they live, feels safe and looked after.”

These four additional deputies will be strategically placed at Central Station in San Bernardino, focusing on areas identified as priority zones for crime prevention and proactive policing efforts. Their duties will include community patrols, response to emergency calls, and proactive crime prevention.

These deputies will start on May 4, 2024, and are funded by the 2023-2024 adopted budget by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is the law enforcement agency for the largest geographical county in the nation. Sheriff Shannon Dicus currently serves as San Bernardino County’s 36th Sheriff-Coroner. The department serves over 2.1 million residents, with eight county and 14 contract patrol stations and over 4,200 employees to ensure the quality and safety of those we serve.
