Sheriff Richard J. Behnke, reports that on 03/02/2024 at approximately 1502 hours his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash near the intersection of M 60 and Shore Acres Rd, in Penn Township, Cass County Michigan.

Investigation shows that a vehicle driven by Skyler Szczepanski (18 years old from Gobles, MI), was traveling east bound on M 60 when he failed to stop in an assured clear distance crashing into the rear of the vehicle driven by Savannah Watson (18 years old from Cassopolis) who was attempting to turn left into a private business. Watson was transported by ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.


All involved parties wore seatbelts. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor.


Assisting in this crash was Central Cass Fire Department, Penn Township Fire Department, SMCAS Ambulance and Cassopolis Police Department.
