AVWBOU THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE COLORADO AVALANCHE INFORMATION CENTER. ...AVALANCHE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 PM SATURDAY UNTIL 11 PM SUNDAY
*WHAT... The Avalanche Danger will rise to HIGH (Level 4 of 5) on Saturday Night.
*WHERE... Flat Top Mountains, Gore Range, Grand Mesa, West Elk Mountains, Elk Mountains, and the Northern and Central Sawatch Range.
*WHEN... In effect from 11 PM Saturday, March 2 until 11 PM on Sunday, March 3.
*IMPACTS... Heavy snow and strong winds are creating dangerous avalanche conditions in the backcountry. Large and dangerous avalanches will be very easy to trigger. Avalanches will run naturally. They can run long distances.
*PRECAUTION/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Travel in backcountry avalanche terrain is not recommended. Avoid travel on and under slopes steeper than about 30 degrees. You can find more detailed information at colorado.gov/avalanche Pritchett
