SUBJECT:  Attempted Burglary Leads to Arrest

OFFICERS: Officers Matthew Vallone, Brenden Bernhard, Mario Paden, Aaron Pingitore, Detective Michael Legg, and Sergeant Jeff Malone. 
                                   
LOCATION: Marcy Place in Ocean Township 
 
ACCUSED: Devin J. Gelewski 21 year old male of Toms River, NJ
 
NARRATIVE:   On March 3^rd, 2024 at approximately 1:00 am, officers were dispatched to a residence on Marcy Place for a report of burglary in progress.  The caller reported that an unknown subject was attempting to break the front door of the residence.  When officers arrived on scene, the subject had fled through several back yards before being spotted on West Park Avenue.  Officers were able to apprehend the subject, now identified as Devin J. Gelewski, and confirm that he was the person who attempted to enter the victim’s home.  Gelewski was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing.  Gelewski was charged with Resisting Arrest, Criminal Trespass and Criminal Attempt (Burglary).  He was released on a summons pending an initial court appearance.
