WSDOT Travel Advisory: Delays on SR305 March 5-7 for WSDOT roadwork project
WSDOT Travel Advisory
Plan lots of extra time: Expect one day of roadwork on SR 305 on Bainbridge Island
Work also includes nighttime one-way alternating traffic
BAINBRIDGE ISLAND – From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, State Route 305 on Bainbridge Island will see heavy congestion at Adas Will Lane.
The daytime work will create miles long backups in both directions of the highway.
WSDOT needs help from travelers:
- Add extra travel time to help prevent delays especially for those traveling to the Bainbridge Island Ferry Terminal.
- Consider postponing discretionary trips.
- Travel early in the morning or later in the afternoon.
Washington State Department of Transportation understands the inconvenience this poses to travelers. WSDOT has worked very closely with the contractor to balance the needs of construction and the needs to keep people moving.
The daytime work is part of a new phase of construction at a safety improvement project on SR 305.
While most work will occur during nighttime hours, crews need to work during daytime hours to build a two-lane bypass road through the work zone. Once the process begins, crews will need to continue work until it is completed.
Work on this bypass will begin at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 5 and continues through 5 a.m. Wednesday, March 6. During this time SR 305 will be under one-way alternating traffic.
The road will then be open to two-way traffic from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. before work resumes. One-way alternating traffic begins again at 9 a.m. and continues to 3 p.m.
SR 305 will also see one-way alternating each night beginning at 8 p.m. from Wednesday, March 6 through Thursday, March 7. The road will be restored to two-way traffic at 5 a.m. each following day.
During the week, travelers will see two temporary changes through the work zone. Travelers are encouraged to reduce speeds and stay alert for these temporary changes.
Real-time information is available via the WSDOT app and WSDOT Travel Center Map.
