LEADERSHIP TEANECK, the leadership development/ public policy seminar series sponsored by the Township of Teaneck and Fairleigh Dickinson University, is accepting applications for the upcoming session. The class is offered to Teaneck residents, 16 years of age or older, who are interested in learning about Teaneck’s history, government and services, as well as public policy issues and tools for effective decision-making. The free ten-week course is scheduled for Monday evenings from 7-9:30 PM at Fairleigh Dickinson University Muscarelle Center Building 7, Room 105, beginning Monday, April 1. The course instructors are Township, County and State representatives, FDU and Teaneck BOE faculty, and other elected officials.

The curriculum, originally developed by former Mayor Jacqueline Kates and Executive Associate Dean Ronald Calissi of the FDU School of Administrative Science, includes such topics as: New Jersey Forms of Government; Teaneck’s Council-Manager Form of Government; History of Teaneck; Public Policy & Politics; Communication and Conflict Resolution; Team Building; Planning, Zoning, Land Use; Communications and Conflict Resolution; Local, County, State Interrelationships; Municipal Budgeting; Educational Issues; and Managing Differences.

LEADERSHIP TEANECK has been an effective training-ground for public service, as evidenced by the number of Township elected officials, advisory and statutory board members who have participated in the course.
