Wilmington Police arrest man in connection with multiple robbery incidents following investigation:

Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection with multiple robbery incidents following an investigation.

On February 28, at approximately 7:28 p.m., police responded to the 1200 block of North Washington Street, in reference to a robbery incident. On March 3, at approximately 9:18 a.m., police responded to the 1400 block of North Clayton Street, in reference to a robbery incident. On March 3, at approximately 11:12 a.m., police responded to the 1400 block of North Dupont Street, in reference to an attempted robbery incident. These cases were assigned to Detective Joran Merced of the Criminal Investigations Division.

Through the course of his investigation, Detective Merced identified 29-year-old Lakwang Bungy as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. On March 3, at approximately 6:47 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 400 block of South Market Street, in reference to an attempted robbery incident. Upon arrival, officers identified Bungy as the suspect and provided a suspect description and direction of travel to units in the area. A short time later, officers observed Bungy in the 400 block of Garasches Lane. Officers attempted to make contact with Bungy, who fled on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, Bungy was taken into custody without incident.

Bungy has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Robbery (First Degree) – Two Counts
  • Attempted Robbery (First Degree)
  • Robbery (Second Degree)
  • Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $191,000 cash-only bail.
