Simi Valley Police Department Off-Highway Vehicle Grant
The Simi Valley Police Department is seeking funding through the Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) grant provided by the California State Parks. The proposed grant seeks $99,880 which includes staff funding costs and the acquisition of a Utility Task Vehicle (UTV) and an enclosed trailer. The UTV will be used as a support vehicle for the dual-purpose motorcycle unit while the enclosed trailer will allow the UTV to be transported around the city in a safe and legal manner.
Simi Valley is approximately 42 square miles and is surrounded by over 5,600 acres of public open space and multi-purpose trail systems. Through the OHMVR grant opportunity, the Simi Valley Police Department aims to enhance its capability to conduct search and rescue operations, educate the public on legal areas for OHV use, address public safety concerns in off-road environments and protect natural & cultural resources.
The grant application can be viewed on the City of Simi Valley website under the Police Department resources tab. Members of the public are encouraged to contact the Simi Valley Police Department at (805) 583-6950, or by contacting Senior Officer Travis White via email at [email protected] with any questions or concerns. The grant application can also be viewed, and your comments submitted, at the California State Parks OHV Division website www.ohv.parks.ca.gov, beginning March 5, 2024 until May 6, 2024.
