Winter Weather Advisory until 06:00PM Wednesday
...ACCUMULATING SNOW FOR THE PANHANDLE... .A frontal band which will impact the panhandle beginning Tuesday night and continue through Wednesday will bring accumulating snow. Snow amounts will be determined by how strong and quickly the front will brings winds down to the surface. As the biggest uncertainty is with changeover, advised areas could see higher snow totals than advertised.
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations 3 to 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
* WHERE...Pelican, Prince of Wales Island and Ketchikan Gateway Borough.
* WHEN...From 6 AM to 6 PM AKST Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Heavy wet snow will be difficult to manage due to high water content.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will quickly become wet and heavy as rates increase. Heaviest snow for Pelican and PoW Island will be Wednesday morning. For Ketchikan, heaviest rates will be late Wednesday morning.
