NAME AND CLASSIFICATION OF CHARGES (F/M/V):
 
Hunt and Sharpe were both charged with the following:
 

  1. Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd  ( B- FELONY)
  2. Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd  ( B- FELONY)
  3. Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd (A- MISDEMEANOR)
  4. Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th  (A-MISDEMEANOR) – TWO COUNTS
 
 
ARRAIGNMENT/BAIL STATUS:  Sharpe and Hunt were arraigned in front of the Honorable Judge Lisa W. Lorman in Amsterdam City Court.  Sharpe who is currently on New York State Parole had bail set at $20,000 cash and Hunt was released on her own recognizance to appear at a later date.
 
INCIDENT NARRATIVE:  Pursuant to an active and ongoing investigation into the sale of illegal narcotics occurring within the City of Amsterdam, The Amsterdam Police Department executed a search warrant today, Tuesday March 5th, at 188 Division Street Apartment 3R.  During the search of the residence detectives located and seized a quantity of cocaine, oxycodone pills, and paraphernalia associated with the trafficking of narcotics. 

At the 188 Division Street apartment police located and arrested a target of the investigation T’keyah Hunt.  Police located an additional suspect in the investigation, Israel Sharpe, walking on Division Street where he was taken into custody without incident.  Both suspects were wanted on an active arrest warrants after selling a controlled substance to a police source during the ongoing investigation.  Both subjects were transported to Amsterdam Police Headquarters where they were processed on the above charges.  The Amsterdam Police Department was assisted by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office during this investigation.
 
While there was probable cause for this arrest, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
