DATE/TIME: March 5, 2024 / 9:00 a.m.
INCIDENT: Emergency Response Ferry Training
LOCATION: Lake Havasu
SUMMARY: On March 5, 2024, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, alongside San Bernardino County Fire Department, conducted emergency response ferry training with Havasu Landing Resort and Casino's Tecopa Ferry. Havasu Landing Resort and the Tecopa Ferry Captains and Crew gave a briefing on their policies and procedures in emergency situations. The Tecopa crew then enacted emergency scenarios in which law enforcement and/or fire personnel responded.
This training was very beneficial and will help in emergency response situations while the Tecopa is in operation. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department's Marine Enforcement Unit is dedicated to providing a safe boating atmosphere for the public and urges everyone to boat sober and wear their life jackets. For more information regarding safe boating practices, visit the California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways web site at www.dbw.ca.gov.
