Calhoun County Weather Update

FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY - SATURDAY

WHAT: Heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding is expected to arrive as early as midday Friday and may persist through Saturday afternoon. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts are likely. Heavy rainfall that occurs is expected to rapidly run off due to fairly wet soil conditions currently in place across central Alabama. Flash flooding will be possible as a result, along with rises on small streams and drainage basins.

WHEN:  Friday @ 12:00 PM – Saturday @ 3:00 PM

IMPACTS: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

KEY DETAILS: Persistent rainfall throughout the watch area, potentially causing localized flooding in urban, low-lying, and poorly drained areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPARDNESS ACTIONS: Residents in flood-prone regions should be prepared to take necessary actions if flooding occurs. For additional information, refer to http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood.
