INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Base Line Road / Klusman Avenue, Rancho Cucamonga
INVOLVED PARTY: Driver, John Lee 58-year-old Male from Rancho Cucamonga
INVOLVED PARTY: Pedestrian, 67-year-old Male from Rancho Cucamonga (Release of Identity Pending Next of Kin Notification)
SUMMARY: On March 9, 2024, at about 9:34 p.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle near the intersection of Base Line Road and Klusman Avenue.
A gray Toyota Rav4 was traveling east on Base Line Road in the number one lane. The pedestrian was walking northbound across Base Line Road. The driver of the Toyota did not see the pedestrian and collided with him in the eastbound number one lane of Base Line Road.
The pedestrian was transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced deceased by the medical staff.
Deputies Smith and Magdeleno from the Rancho Cucamonga Major Accident Investigation Team responded and assumed the investigation. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
