Controlled Burn on Oleander & Pine Lakes Golf Course 3/11 & 3/12
Please be advised that on March 11 & March 12, 2024, the Jekyll Island Authority will conduct a controlled burn on small patches of land in multiple areas along Oleander and Pine Lakes Golf Courses. This burn will take place from approximately 2:30 P.M. through 12 A.M. Residual smoke effects will likely linger into the early morning of March 13.
The burn does not pose any threat to nearby homes or structures.
No road closures are planned at this time. Smoke visibility will be monitored and temporary road closures may be necessary to maintain safe driving conditions. Signage will be present if a road closure takes place.
Due to unsafe conditions from both fire and smoke, residents are asked not to traverse the course during the burn window for wildlife viewing, photography, or otherwise, to minimize the risk of needing emergency medical services.
All burn plans have been approved by Georgia Forestry and will be managed and monitored by the Jekyll Island Fire Department and the JIA Conservation team.
